The Town of  Hammonton submitted a letter requesting bicycle and pedestrian planning assistance from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).The New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety, Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs (NJDOT‐BSBPP) has requested Sam Schwartz Consulting, LLC (Sam Schwartz) provide Local Technical Assistance to the Town of Hammonton.  The primary goal of this study is to develop a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan that details improvements which improve access routes to the downtown, schools, cemeteries, transit and recreational facilities.

The purpose of the Plan is to identify potential opportunities to enhance the existing bicycle and pedestrian network and improve signage and infrastructure to support an increase in safe pedestrian and bicycle transportation options. As part of this effort, Sam Schwartz will perform a bicycle compatibility assessment, sidewalk inventory and assessment, bicycle and pedestrian crash analyses, intersection assessments, and develop mapping of existing and proposed regional bicycle facilities. The Plan will focus on the development of specific active transportation improvements and a plan for implementing the improvements.

Thank you for participating and providing input through the Wiki Map and Survey. At this time the Sam Schwartz team will analyze all of the data collected and develop recommendations for the Town.
