Mosquito Aerial Sprays Scheduled for Hammonton, Northfield and Pleasantville, Wednesday Evening, October 2

The Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control has scheduled multiple aerial sprays for  portions of Hammonton, Northfield and Pleasantville on Wednesday, October 2, between 5 and 7 PM, weather permitting, as part of the county’s ongoing efforts to control adult mosquitoes and reduce the spread of mosquito-borne illness.

In Hammonton, the aerial application will treat the area bounded by First Road, Boyer Avenue, Main Road, Route 30, Virginia Avenue, Liberty Street, Fairview Avenue, Fourth Street, Old Forks Road, Ranere Avenue and Fifteenth Street.

In Northfield, the aerial application will treat the area bounded by Burroughs Avenue, Oakcrest Avenue, Shore Road, Vernon Avenue, northeast along marsh edge, northwest along the Zion Road/Tilton Road intersection through the western border of Northfield and southwest along Maple Run.

In Pleasantville, the aerial application will treat the are abounded by Ridgewood Avenue, the marsh edge, Franklin Avenue, northeast to Adams Avenue, northwest along Adams Avenue to the western and southwestern borders of Pleasantville.

Each aerial spray application will use Duet HD, the trade name for Sumithrin and Prallethrin, applied as an ultra-low volume aerosol.

The rain date for all scheduled sprays will be Thursday, October 3 between 5 and 7 PM

The Environmental Protection Agency does not require people to relocate or take special precautions during mosquito control spraying.

Mosquito Control officials remind residents of the importance of removing standing water from their properties and cleaning their gutters to eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds.

The Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control has scheduled two ground sprays for  portions of Hammonton as part of the county’s ongoing efforts to control adult mosquitoes and reduce the spread of mosquito-borne illness. No other communities are scheduled for spraying at this time

The first ground spray application will take place, weather permitting, between 5 AM and 7 AM on Wednesday, September 11. The area to be treated is bounded by Egg Harbor Road, Walmer Street, Central Avenue, and the White Horse Pike.

The second ground spray application will take place, weather permitting, between 5 AM and 7 AM on Thursday, September 12. The area to be treated is bounded by Packard Street, Fairview Avenue, Thirteenth Street, Grant Street, Passmore Avenue, Egg Harbor Road and Grape Street.

Both ground spray applications will use Zenivex, the trade name for etofenprox, applied as an ultra-low volume aerosol.

The Environmental Protection Agency does not require people to relocate or take special precautions during mosquito control spraying. The public may choose to avoid or minimize exposure by staying indoors during application; keeping windows shut; window fans and air conditioning off or set to circulate indoor air; keeping children’s toys indoors; keeping pets and their food, water dishes and toys indoors.

Tax bills will be mailed out this week by August 9th. The grace period for the 3rd quarter has been extended through Monday, September 9, 2019. Interest will be charged starting September 10th and is accrued from August 1st.

The June Town Council meeting date has been changed to June 17th and will be held at Town Hall on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 7:00pm.

The Historical Society of Hammonton will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, May 19 from 12 to 3 and will also be open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 from 10 to noon.
