There are many Veterans in our community, representing all branches of the United States Armed Forces: the United States Army, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force, the United States Marine Corps and the United States Coast Guard. Veterans are members of three local organizations: the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Our local veterans meet on a regular basis, and remain committed to serving the country and community they defended with honor through their service.

The US Department of Veterans Affairs operates 205 Vet Centers throughout the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. We are fortunate to have one right here in Atlantic County!

The goal of the Vets Outreach Center is to provide a broad range of outreach readjustment counseling, consultation, education and referral for veterans of the Vietnam war, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf and Somalia (to include Korean and WW2 Vets as well) in order to help them make a satisfactory post-war adjustment to civilian life. We also provide veterans benefits information on education and on the job training. Clinical services such as physiological testing, individual and group counseling, marital and family psychotherapy also provided.

At the Vet Center, you can expect help from counselors who will treat you with respect and understanding. They are professionals who specialize in counseling. Some are war veterans. So they not only know the problems first hand, they also have the skills to help you solve them.

They have many other resources, including a network of federal, state, city and community resources that can help you with discharge review, veterans benefits, drug and alcohol treatment, women’s sexual trauma, medical care, legal aid and emergency services. They will try to help you address any concern you bring to us.
